Is it ethical to legalize same sex marriage?

Same-sex marriage, also known as gay marriage or equal marriage is a marriage between two persons of the same biological sex or gender identity.  The recognition of same-sex marriage is a political, social, civil rights and religious issue in many nations, and debates continue to arise over whether same-sex couples should be recognized or banned for instance Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights. As of March 2013, eleven countries such as Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, and Sweden legalized such marriage. It is also legalized in parts of the US, Brazil and Mexico.  It is illegal in some countries, while it is on-going debate in some countries.

Hence, pro same sex marriage argues two main areas firstly consideration of Human Needs such as physiological needs that is to say if heterosexuals meet their needs for love by marrying someone of the opposite sex why not homosexuals and secondly the consideration of the Civil Rights that is to say marriage provides many important rights for example a spouse can make a decision in a time of illness. S/he can file a wrongful death claim and also can claim emotional distress when their partner is injured. While Anti same sex marriages argues that Gay relationships are wrong and against the God’s plan. Being gay is nurtured rather than nature & therefore can be untrained. Marriage is the union of two people that form families, and the families interact and contribute something to the society. In contrary, gay marriages do not naturally contribute to society in this fashion, but it further denigrates it by its unethical nature.

Hence, in my point of view marriage is essentially and necessarily a religious rite and many people who we have the same idea conceives of this marriage in almost exclusively religious terms. Therefore, legalizing gay marriage constitutes a type of sacrilege and an unjustified intrusion of the state into what is necessarily a religious matter. Because of religion’s traditional role in sanctifying marriages and presiding over wedding ceremonies this is understandable, but it’s also incorrect; luckily I am from a country that is 100% Muslim and the Islamic religion encourages marriage for the teenagers for instance our prophet peace be up on him said once he was talking to teenagers ‘’ Oh Teenagers get marry as long as you can afford, it will protect from you illegal intercourse and it is good for your reproductive organs’’. Thus, there are no such ethical issues of same sex marriage in our society because it is prohibited and it is allowed (Haram) according Islamic religion.

In addition, same sex marriage is an abomination in the eyes of God and it is completely unethical to legalize it since it is against the nature. There are many disadvantages of same sex marriages for instance if there is children they will need to be raised by their biological parents, A child with same-sex parents will be subjected to hate, Almost everyone agrees that homosexuality is immoral, Same sex marriage would be a radical change to society and many more other reasons that I cannot include here. For that reason I support not to legalize same sex marriage and to ban and prohibit this very un ethical issue and I am supporting my stand the following reasons firstly, Most religions consider homosexuality a sin,     It would weaken the definition and respect for the institution of marriage,  It would further weaken the traditional family values essential to our society, It could provide a slippery slope in the legality of marriage and marrying an animal could be next,  It confuses children about gender roles and expectations of society, and only a man & woman can pro-create. Hence, the gay lifestyle is not something to be encouraged, as a lot of research shows it leads to a much lower life expectancy, psychological disorders, and other problems.

In conclusion, I believe that homosexuality is a changeable, chosen, addictive, abnormal and unnatural lifestyle behavior encouraged some civil right organizations that argues everyone has his/her rights to choose his/her desire. But actually it can be stopped before it spreads through all the communities around the world by displaying and exposing the disadvantages it has ethically, socially and healthily.
